May 26, 2009 Bahia Pulp supports campaign against dengue
Bahia Pulp supported the campaign "Pole Against Dengue", which aimed to combat the mosquito Aedes aegypti and to aware habitants of the municipalities of Camaçari and Dias d'Ávila, in Bahia, Brazil. The campaign clarified some ways to prevent disease, encouraging the adoption of preventive initiatives to avoid the proliferation of the mosquito. The activities, occurred during April and May, engaged about 300 people, including volunteers employees of 57 companies of the Camaçari Industrial Complex, health workers, students of public schools, representatives of various municipal departments and community leaders.
The campaign was an initiative of Cofic - Committee for Promotion of Industrial Camaçari that, through the Zoonosis Centers of Camaçari and Dias d'Ávila, offered training for about a hundred volunteers of the companies. Bearing leaflets about the prevention of dengue, they act as multipliers of information in communities, targeting residents on how to avoid the disease.
Outdoors and warnings messages in car sound helped the work, contributing for disseminate the information in the communities.
