Jan 31, 2011 BSC/Copener creates committee of sustainability
The Committee of Sustainability created by the BSC / Copener has the powers to develop and monitor actions related to sustainability and the environment and corporate responsibility.
Comprised of representatives from various areas of the company, will participate in all decisions made on the preparation of the Sustainability Report. This project, which is the practice of measuring social and environmental impacts caused by the daily activities of the organization, will be used as a management tool from this year and is based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) 2010/2011, international organization that sets standards of excellence in economics, social and environmental actions.
To align these concepts, the first action of the group was holding a workshop to define what is and what should go in this report, presenting the GRI model and how it should be applied in accordance with the demands of the BSC and showing the greatest shortcomings of this type of reports in Brazil. This way, everyone was aware of the responsibility they will have in the collection of information for development.
